Ultra-wide band based collaborative decentralised localisation

Objective


To develop Ultra-Wideband impulse radio (UWB-IR) based cooperative and distributed positioning for unmanned platforms.



Description

Cooperative positioning algorithms have been developed and tested using a five-static-node peer-to-peer positioning setup, in which Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is used as ranging signal and WiFi for data communication in a time shared manner. The estimated range between the nodes is close to the measured distance with error distribution which is approximately Gaussian with standard deviation 0.25 meter.
